Picnics
How I love them. What is it that makes them so special? In my opinion, it’s the people first and then the delicious and special food. For both you only choose the people and food items you love or really, really like.
Next, it becomes an outing. You go to the park, the beach, the lake or even the back garden. Or in my case, my favorite picnic spot – the kitchen floor at night, by candlelight. I know you are thinking, this is a romantic picnic. It can be. But it can also just be a fun, relaxing and recharging experience.
Picnics have this vibe about them that fun, kicking back and relaxing is the mandatory outcome. There is this sense that there are no rules for picnics. You don’t have to “eat your food first before you can have dessert.” Everything is out on display, and you eat according to your heart’s desire whenever you want and how much you choose.
Picnics are a delightful reminder that life can also be easy, fun, and free. That sometimes, breaking the rules, breaking loose and mixing things up, is like a reset button for your soul. Often a much needed one.
With summer upon us, I see more and more families and friends out and about for picnics in the park. Kids running around and playing with the grownups joining in. Just observing people enjoying a picnic is food for the soul. Young lovers snuggling up to each other, feeding each other, it’s just sweet and delightful and I am here for it. But fear not for those in the winter season, like I said, there are no rules and a picnic indoors with indoor games, candlelight and snuggles are equally as much fun!
So, have a picnic. The only rule is not to make rules. Dream up your own idea of the perfect place, menu and guest list and have yourself a delightful picnic to reset the stresses and sorrows of life. Connect to the earth and the ones you love, feed your body deliciousness and let joy overcome you for a few hours. You deserve it.
That is exactly how this little sketch came about. I needed a reset, and connection. Then my dear friends, the McIsaac’s invited me to a family picnic in the park. Pizza, bubbles, ice cream, deep chats, small talk, playing hairdresser and lots of hugs from my darling little girls and their amazing mother (like only a mother can hug) and I walked home on cloud nine. I came home inspired, my cup filled to the brim and the rest, as they say, is history.
Enjoy your picnic and feel free to tell me all about it. 😊
Live, love, laugh, let go and light up the world in your own unique way.
With love, always
Ané
